Scottish Monasticism Field School

June 2024 Programme Preview: Lindores Abbey!

The Monastic Archaeology Field School programme offers students in History and Archaeology both an intensive introduction to medieval religious communities (St Andrews, Scotland) and an intensive hands-on experience of field archaeology.

The 2024 Global St Andrews summer learning course will be the opening season of an ongoing partnership between the St Andrews School of History, The Saint Andrews Centre for Archaeology, Technology, and History, and Lindores Abbey Distillery. This innovative collaboration at the intersection of History, Archaeology, Heritage, and Business will centre on excavations at twelfth-century Lindores Abbey in Newburgh (Fife). Student earn transferable St Andrews credit while leaning about history, archaeology, and sustainable heritage. Applications for the June 2024 programme will open in September. Pre-recruiting information is available from course director Alison Beach (ai[email protected]).

For more information and the application portal see the Global St Andrews website! Scholarships are available. Please note that the programme fee is not yet set for 2024.
